Hi! I’m Shannon and I’m the founder of Savage Wellness:
I am a personal trainer, a weight management specialist, a retired circus acrobat, and mom of two young and energetic boys
I have been using my body my whole life. I grew up as a high level gymnast and competed for the US National Vaulting Team in my teens.
In my 20s, after sitting at a computer through college and as I began working as a photographer, I started experiencing horrible back pains. I needed to get fit but I didn't know where to start so I went with what I knew. Having recently seen Cirque Du Soleil for the first time, I joined some adult gymnastics classes to challenge myself not to just get fit, but have fun doing it. And I don’t do anything half-assed, so this ultimately lead to a late career as a circus acrobat (no, you do not have to be born into a family of clowns and raised in a handstand to be in the circus).
I moved to Montreal and trained and worked as a internationally acclaimed circus artist for years (yes, it was as awesome as it sounds).
After a broken back, a broken shoulder, a broken ankle, reaching some big goals, and with a soul full of incredible memories and experiences, I decided it was time to settle down and focus on the goal I’d had as long as I can remember: Marrying my better half and becoming a mom!
I became a personal trainer to help show people that you can do anything at any age. You can feel better at 40 (50, 60, 70, even!) than you ever did at 20! My experience with postpartum depression after the birth of my second also gave me a new mission: redefining motherhood.
I want to tell the world and mamas everywhere: Follow your passions, find things you love and that motivate you, and you can do amazing things. Healthy living does not have to be a chore and it definitely doesn’t have to feel boring and restrictive. I can help you find your balance. I can help you discover a new, healthier, and happier you!
